Around the World with Cox & Kings: Worldwide Family Fun

September 1, 2010 by coxandkingsusa

Now is the time to discover the world with the ones you love. Cox & Kings offers specially-designed itineraries ideal for family exploration in far-flung destinations. These travel experiences are so jam-packed with adventure, sights and sounds it’s a safe bet parents will never have to hear that dreaded question: “Are we there yet?”

Journey through the Jungle
Explore the lure of the jungle in a two-and-a-half week journey through India. This unique Cox & Kings itinerary sends your family on a tiger hunt to the Bandhavgarh Game Reserve and searching for leopard and Asiatic lions in the national parks of Kanha and Pench. Considered by many to be India’s greatest national park, the Bandhavgarh allows you and your family to spend an entire day in pursuit of the magnificent Bengal tigers. Enjoy hands-on excursions to the Khajuraho temples, walk the streets of India’s major cities such as Old and New Delhi and Mumbai, and visit historic sites and museums including the famed Taj Mahal.

This experience is offered on Cox & Kings’ 17-day, 16-night “Lure of the Jungle” itinerary, which starts at US $10,765 per person, based on double occupancy, through 2010.

Soak Up Colombian Culture
Time to retire that annual family vacation to Florida; Cox & Kings offers a family-fun 5-day, 4-night jaunt to sunny Colombia. When arriving in the scenic coast of Cartagena, families will be greeted by a Cox & Kings guide who will accompany them through a tour of Colonial Cartagena, exploring the streets and plazas by both foot and horse-drawn carriage. Stroll down the century-old town San Basilio de Palenque and watch the colorfully dressed Palenquera women commute to the markets to sell candy and fruit. Family members will take a cue from the stylish civilians and have the opportunity to dress in colorful costume dresses and practice balancing bowls their heads. Afterwards, guests can discover Colombia’s dynamic, ever-changing landscape through activities such as a private picnic at the base of a 50-foot mud volcano — sure to give that homemade science project a run for its money. Guests will relish their own Dancing With the Stars moment as the whole family learns the rhythmic moves of merengue and cumbia, music Colombia is famous for.

This experience is offered on Cox & Kings’ customizable Latin America itineraries; US price available upon request.

Be Lawrence of Arabia and Spend Awhile on the Nile
Take the plunge and journey to ancient Egypt and Jordan for a custom two-week excursion for the whole family. The world of the ancient pharaohs comes alive as your English-speaking guide/Egyptologist meets you and your family upon landing in Cairo and accompanies you on a sight-seeing adventure. Envision ancient Egypt and hear stories at the Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, as well as the enigmatic Great Sphinx. You will then embark on a four-day cruise on the ancient Nile River with daily stops to pharaoh tombs — not to mention plenty of onboard activities for children of all ages. You and your family will then fly to Amman, Jordan for the second half of your adventure. Camel down to the spectacular desert valley of Wadi Rum or visit Mount Nebo, believed to be the site of Moses’s Tomb, which boasts magnificent views of the Jordan River and the Dead Sea.

This experience is offered on Cox & Kings’ customizable Egypt and/or Jordan itineraries; US price available upon request.

Walk the Great Wall
For thirteen days families can discover the magic of the People’s Republic of China. The adventure begins as your family arrives in Beijing and is immediately greeted by a Cox & Kings guide, present throughout the duration of the trip until its final destination, Shanghai. History comes alive as you wander The Forbidden City (The Imperial Palace) and The Chonghua Palace, and spend an entire day marveling in the immense stature of the Great Wall of China and visiting the Ming Tombs. While at the Great Wall, kids can try their hand at flying a traditional Chinese kite or even enjoy the toboggan slide. From walking the Ancient City Walls of Xian to cruising the breathtaking Li River from Guilin, this itinerary is one of impressive scale and scope.
This experience is offered on Cox & Kings’ 13-day, 12-night “Classic China” itinerary, which starts at US $7,575 per person, based on double occupancy.

Enjoy an Exclusive Family Safari
Who needs The Lion King when you can live it? Grab the whole family and embark on a two-week safari through beautiful South Africa. Travelers can keep their minds at ease; families will enjoy diverse game viewing in malaria-free areas of South Africa, as well as exclusive-use accommodations that evoke a feeling of home and comfort. Cox & Kings’ “Exclusively Yours: A Private Family Safari” journey begins with a trip to the top of Table Mountain over Cape Town and a learning experience about Nelson Mandela on Robben Island, and includes private rangers, safari vehicles and chefs to cater perfectly to guests’ preferences in each safari location. While in Cape Town, guests choose from a selection of family-friendly excursions including sea kayaking to see penguins or a guided encounter with Chacma Baboons. Age-specific activities allow for something special for each child, so while teenagers can view 40 reptile species at the exclusive Imhoff Snake & Reptile Rehabilitation Park, seven-year-olds can hunt for tumble polished gemstones. Guests will visit Samara Private Game Reserve, which offers the brilliant opportunity to see cheetah, rhino, giraffe and antelopes within breathtaking vistas, as well as Madikwe, home to the Big Five, and Tswalu, the largest private game reserve in South Africa.

This experience is offered on Cox and Kings’ 14-day, 13-night “Exclusively Yours: A Private Family Safari” itinerary, which starts at US $8,500 per person, based on 8 people throughout.
